8:16. యెహోవా నా తండ్రితో, ‘నా ప్రజలైన ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను నేను ఈజిప్టునుండి విముక్తులను చేసి తీసుకొని వచ్చాను. కాని నా గౌరవార్థం నాకో దేవాలయం కట్టించటానికి ఇశ్రాయేలు వంశాలు నివసించే ఏ పట్టణాన్నీ నేనింకా ఎన్నుకో లేదు. నా ప్రజలైన ఇశ్రాయేలును ఏలటానికి నేనొక యువరాజును ఎంపిక చేయలేదు. కాని నేను గౌరవింపబడే చోటుగా ఇప్పుడు యెరూషలేమును ఎన్నుకున్నాను. మరియు నా ప్రజలైన ఇశ్రాయేలును పరిపాలించటానికి దావీదును ఎంపిక చేశాను’ అని చెప్పాడు.

8:16. He told David, 'Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from all the tribes of Israel to build a temple in which to live. But I have chosen David to lead my people Israel.'

8:16. 'From the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have never chosen a city among any of the tribes of Israel as the place where a Temple should be built to honor my name. But I have chosen David to be king over my people Israel.'"

And I had not chosen a man to be leader over my people, Israel. But now I have chosen Jerusalem to be the city where I will be honored. And I have chosen David to rule over my people, Israel.'
